About The department
The Department of Arabic is one of the most important departments of Sitalkuchi College. This Department was established in 2013 with the introduction of a General Course in Arabic. However, the Honours Course in Arabic was started in 2016 with the 30-intake capacity. Now the intake capacity of the Department is 50.
The Department of Arabic offers different courses in Arabic Language, Literature and Culture. The salient feature of these courses is to impart deep knowledge of Arabic language, literature and culture of different parts of the Arab World to the students with special concentration on developing communication skills, oral, written as well as translation and interpretation among them.

Moreover, the Department also keeps its students busy in different academic & cultural activities throughout the academic session.
The Department organises Fresher’s Programme in the beginning of the academic session & Farewell Programme at the end of the academic session to welcome new students & to bid farewell to graduating students. The Department brings out its departmental wall magazine too named Al-Saurah. With this, organising lectures time to time, publishing an annual journal and holding seminars on different topics related to Arabic are too the aims of this department.
The Department of Arabic is unique to Sitalkuchi College among the affiliating colleges of Cooch Behar Panchanan Barma University. The students from a large catchment area of North Dinajpur, Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling and Cooch Behar seek admission in the department.
The Department has its own separate accommodation and is equipped with computer with internet and printing facilities along with a departmental library holding various precious books on Arabic Language, Literature and Culture issued to students for their personal study at the department.
