Sitalkuchi College launched NSS with one unit in the year 2007 under the University of North Bengal with 150 volunteers led by the Programme Officer Mr. Gopal Sharma, Ex-Assistant professor, Dept. of Political Science, Sitalkuchi College. In the initial stage, a special tour was conducted by Mr. Gopal Sharma, Mr. Amrita Kumar Shil and Mr. Bijay Kumar Sarkar, Programme Officers of NSS Unit 1, 2 and 3 respectively at South Khayerbari Tiger rescue Centre regarding a Survey of the Socio-economic Condition of Forest Village and Social Awareness. At present, there are 3 units(Unit 1, 2, and 3), consisting of 1oo(hundred) volunteers in each unit and actively serving under Cooch Behar Panchanan Barma University. The programme Officers now in charge of NSS Unit 1, 2, and 3 of Sitalkuchi College are Mr. Chandan Barman, Asstt. Professor of Philosophy; Mr. Biplab Debnath, Asstt. Proffessor of English; and Mr. Ananta Rava, Asstt. Professor of Bengali respectively.

The various regular activities of the NSS like Blood Donation Camp, Health Awareness Programmes, Environment Awareness Programmes, Tree Plantation Programmes, Free Health Check-up Camps, Health Survey Programmes, Awareness Programme on , Cleaning Drives, Gardening Programmes, Observance of International Yoga Day etc. as well as observance of different days of National Importance have taken place in view of enlightening the students’ in different segments of life and helping them get established in life as socially aware and responsible citizens and personality development .

In the pandemic situation due to COVID 19 social awareness programme on physical and mental health is going on by all the NSS Units of Sitalkuchi college and all the programmes of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsaa initiated by the Govt. of India are being carried out in the month of August, 2021.
