Sociology is an important part of every child’s education. It not only helps them stay healthy, but it also teaches them how to be responsible citizens.

Sociology includes a variety of activities to Helps in mental development. Such as personality, socialization, social values, social behaviour and cultural education gives.

Presently, Honours Department has been started since 2017 along with General Department in Sociology Department. Honours section started with only 30 students in 2017, but now the number of seats has increased to 55. Our college under Panchanan Burma University is quite good and our Sociology honours department students have done well result in past years.

The Department of Sociology Sitalkuchi College currently offers the programme course and honours course. These programs takes for to the diverse academic Needs and aspiration of students interested in the study of Sociology, life skills Education (open course).

Glimpses of academic and cultural activities: Department of Sociology organizes various educational programs and activities. They are –

1. Fresher’s welcome: Every year the second and third year students organize a program to welcome new students to the Department of Sociology. New students are welcomed through this ceremony.
2. Farewell: Every year, the college organizes a graduation ceremony for all final year students in honours. First and second year students, in which departmental teachers also participate.
3. August Comte birthday celebration: The French philosopher recognized as the father of positivism and sociology, Auguste Comte, or Isidore-Auguste-Marie-François-Xavier Comte, was born in Montpellier, France, on January 19, 1798, and passed away in Paris on September 5, 1857. The name “sociology” was given by Comte, who also organized the new field in a methodical way.
