Student Facilities

Library

The college Library is equipped with a good stock of text and reference books. It is open from 11A.M to 4.30P.M from Monday to Friday and from 11A.M to 1.30P.M on Saturday. Model Question Banks and Question Papers of previous years are also available in the library.

Digital Language Lab

The Digital Language Lab with 32 computers aims is to provide resources, facilities, and support for language instruction and learning to the Sitalkuchi College community. State-of-the-art teaching spaces, enterprise level software resources, and expert support personnel combine to make the Digital Language Lab a dynamic and highly effective teaching and learning facility. The Digital Language Lab is the multilingual computing and assessment hub at Sitakuchi College, offering reliable audio and video recording capability, foreign language digital media content, and software images to support computing in multiple foreign character sets. The lab also hopes to serve as physical and virtual cross-cultural encounter environment.

Half Pay/Full Pay Concession

The students who are economically weak can avail concession in their tuition fees with sufficient proof in their favour. This move is specially meant to motivate the students who drop out due to severe poverty.

Laboratory

The college has a well equipped Geography Laboratory with sophisticated instruments and GIS & Remote sensing software like Globalmapper 13, Map info, ERDAS IMAGINE where every student has access to laboratory, instruments and in case of any difficulty the teachers of the departments are available to help the students. Every student receives individual attention and personal care. A language hub with sufficient computers and software is to be set up from the current session.

Common Room

There are two common rooms with indoor games like carom, table tennis etc, separately for girls and boys with attached toilet facilities.

Students Aid Fund

The college offers half/full free studentship to the meritorious/needy students.

Grievance Redressal Cell

Monitored by senior member of the academic staff, the cell deals with students problems, students are free to write about their grievances.

The Equal Opportunity Centre

The UGC sponsored equal opportunity centre started functioning in the previous academic session that is 2010-11. Its aim is to oversee the effective implementation of policies and programmes of disadvantages groups. It provides guidance and counseling with respect the diversity within the college campus. Also it conducts a short term course on ‘Positive Discrimination’.

Enabling Unit

The enabling unit is the component 1 of the UGC scheme higher education for persons with a special needs (HEPSN). Its purpose is to develop awareness and to provide necessary guidance and counseling to differently abled persons in various courses.

UGC Network Resources Centre

The UGC network resource centre seeks to create awareness among the students about the use of computers in various activities. In addition to information and communication network the centre facilities access to multimedia material for learning experiences.

Remedial Coaching

Remedial coaching scheme is sponsored by UGC. Its aim is to improve academic skills and linguistic proficiency of the students belonging to SC/ST/OBC and minority communities to get gainful employment in central, state services or equivalent position in private sectors.

Coaching For Entry In Service

The basic objective of this scheme is to prepare students belonging to SC, ST, OBC and minority communities to get gainful employment in central, state services or equivalent position in private sectors.

Accommodation, Conveyance Allowance and Stipend

Under the sponsorship of UGC from the last academic session the schemes of accommodation on rental basis and conveyance allowance for BPL category students and stipend for SC, ST, OBC and minority students have been introduced.

COP Courses

The college also offers two Career Oriented Programmes (Computer Application and Functional & Communicative English) especially meant for students to cope with the demand for an overall development in Job-sector.

Travelling Concession

Travel concessions are available to the students for travel by air, train or bus routes within India in compliance with the rules of the Government and concerned department.

Photo Facility

Photocopy facilities for the students has been introduced at the college premises at minimal cost.
